Annually during the last week of January, Catholic schools throughout the country celebrate Catholic Schools Week. This year, the dates for Catholic Schools Week are Monday, January 28 through Friday, February 1, 2019.

Also, to celebrate Catholic Schools Week, we have some activities happening daily at the school.

Monday, January 28:
Grades K-5 (PreK will be bowling here at the school with Mr. Esposito and Mrs. M.)
Brock’s Bowl, Penn Yan
12:45 – 2:30
Favorite Sports Team Day (All Grades)
Support your favorite sports team… students can wear hats, and team shirts. Shirts do not have to be in support of a professional team; students can wear their own team shirts from baseball, soccer, cheerleading, etc.

Tuesday, January 29:
Quiz Bowl with Fr. Leo
Grades 3, 4, 5
Team colors will be determined soon. I’ll let you know what color to wear sometime next week.
Church Hall 9:15 – 11:00
Crazy Sock/Slipper Day (All Grades)
Wear your slippers at school all day?!? How awesome is that? Or drive your teachers crazy and come in mismatched socks.

Wednesday, January 30:
Dress Down Day (K-Grade 5)
Students can pay $1.00 and wear regular clothes that day! No uniforms!! The money raised will go to Tyler Bray, a former SMS student, who is going on a Mission Trip to Lima, Peru in March with the University of Pittsburgh Fellowship of Catholic University Students.
5th Grade Class will be attending Mass in Rochester, so they will need to wear their uniforms on Wednesday, but can pay $1.00 on Thursday and dress down then.
Funny Hat/Funny Hair Day (All Grades) Students can wear silly hats, headband boppers and/or wear their hair in crazy ways.

Thursday, January 31:
Beach Day (PreK – Grade 5)
Church Hall 1:30 – 3:00
Students can wear beach clothing to the beach party. There will be time to change from their uniforms to beach clothes before the beach party. No bathing suits allowed. Hawaiian shirts, shorts, skirts are allowed. We are looking for volunteers to help out on this day. Please let me know if you are available.

Friday, February 1:
Mass/Grandparents Day
Mass is at St. Michael Church (Please note, PK does NOT attend Mass)
Grandparents are welcome to meet their grandchildren at Mass, then return to the school around noon to have lunch and play games. We do NOT have lunch here for the grandparents; in some cases, the student will bring a lunch for his/her grandparents, but usually the grandparents just bring their own. For students in PK, grandparents can come have lunch with their grandchild beginning at 11:45.

Registration forms for the 2019-2020 school year will go home sometime during Catholic Schools Week. Please fill them out and return them at your earliest possible convenience.

Thank you in advance.
