Kristin A. Burch – 3rd grade teacher

  • Colleges attended: SUNY Cortland – BA childhood education; SUNY Cortland – Graduate degree in Math and Science education.

I have been a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church all my life. I was an altar server as a child, became a Eucharistic Minister, played flute in the church choir, and was the Kindergarten religion education instructor from 2003-2005. I also received the Hands of Christ award through of Diocese of Rochester in 2005. I am also an alumni of St. Michael’s School. I graduated in 1998.

Community involvement: I am an active community member. I have been volunteering at Soldiers and Sailors Hospital since 1996. I currently play in the Penn Yan Community Band. I am also a team captain for the Yates County Hope Walk. I am also the secretary for Yates Next Gen and am on the board of directors for the Friends of the Outlet.

3rd grade News

Curriculum:
Math – Our first chapter is on Place Value.
ELA – All year, we will be working on reading, comprehension, grammar, spelling, and writing. We are also currently reviewing manuscript letters.
3rd Grade Religion – Our first chapter is “God Sends Us His Own Son.”
2nd Grade Religion – Our first chapter is “Jesus Is The Son Of God.”
4th Grade Social Studies – Our first chapter is about the Land of New York
3rd Grade Social Studies – Their first unit is on Map Skills. Mr. Prather will be teaching this.
3rd Grade Science – Their first unit is on the Scientific Method. Mrs. Zimmer will be teaching this.
