Kristin A. Burch – 2nd and 3rd grade teacher

  • Colleges attended: SUNY Cortland – BA childhood education; SUNY Cortland – Graduate degree in Math and Science education.

I have been a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church all my life. I was an altar server as a child, became a Eucharistic Minister, played flute in the church choir, and was the Kindergarten religion education instructor from 2003-2005. I also received the Hands of Christ award through of Diocese of Rochester in 2005. I am also an alumni of St. Michael’s School. I graduated in 1998.

Community involvement: I am an active community member. I have been volunteering at Soldiers and Sailors Hospital since 1996. I volunteered at Penn Yan Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps as a Certified First Responder from 2002-2009. I currently play in the Penn Yan Community Band since 2004. I am also been a team captain for the Yates County Hope Walk.

Weekly News (4/23-4/27)

Grade 2 Math – This week we will be working on subtraction, problem solving, and area.

Grade 3 Math – We are reviewing for the Math State Test.

Grade 2 ELA – Throughout the school year we will be working on phonemic awareness, comprehension, fluency, grammar, and manuscript writing.

Grade 3 ELA – We will be working on comprehension, fluency, grammar, and cursive writing. All of their spelling tests will now be in cursive.

Combined Science – We are currently on our Plant Unit.

Combined Religion – We are learning about The Four Marks of the Church.

Grade 2 Social Studies – Unit 3 is “Long Ago and Today.”

Grade 3 Social Studies – This will be taught by Mrs. Zimmer. Their current unit is on Italy and their test will be on 4/24.

Grade 4 Social Studies – Our next chapter is on New Yorkers Moving West.
